The Occupy Wall Street Movement

John Nichols, writing in The Nation, provides a nice analysis of the Occupy Wall Street Movement. My only criticism is that Nichols seems to understand it as mostly an American movement. Wall Street may be, as he says, the right target for Americans to address, but Wall Street is ultimately just a part of something broader, something that has no geographic boundaries, namely,  global capitalism. Executive earnings higher than paid taxes

The data presented in a recent New York Times article entitled “Where Pay for Chiefs Outstrips U.S. Taxes” is incredible (and yet somehow not very surprising): At least 25 top United States companies paid more to their chief executives in 2010 than they did to the federal government in taxes, according to a study released on Wednesday.  How can the corporate sector maintain any credibility in the face of these data.
